Thanks for being a good sport and giving it a go.
To my eye, the first is a post sunset, dusk sort of rendering. As a sunset in B&W it is hardy dazzling., The second does look like late direct rays and makes for an interesting study of pattern.
I know which I prefer.
My approach is not so much to simply document as to celebrate. Find something introguing and then shout about it in glowing terms (no pun intended in this case).
