    Sigma 50-500mm lense

by beats rowing » Wed Oct 31, 2012 10:01 pm

After finally starting to get some time to pick up my camera again, I am starting to look at a new lense. The sigma 50-500mm lense has caught my eye and I was wondering if anyone here uses one or has any comment on them as far as quality and value for money is concerned.

I have been told you need a small Nuclear fusion instead of a flash and a good sense of humor when looking at the pix you have taken

I have one and about to sell(pentax fit) mine is an early version, it chews light, I get better results with DA 300 and 1.4 converter.

Q; Why do you feel you need a 500mm lens

Q2: Why do you really need a 500mm lens ?

I have been looking at the nikon 80 400 for some time now and I really cannot justify one

Of the 9000 or so photos taken on our last trip I MAY have used such a lens once or perhaps twice.

I would choose shorter faster glass, over long slow glass any day.

An 80 200 f2.8 would be my lens of choice. You are not going to cover the fast action at the other end of the field unless you have some very expensive optics.

What lenses and camera gear do you have now ?
