    New Manfrotto Tripod and Head

My first tripod purchase was posted here, http://www.digitalslr.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17600. Thanks for all the comments.

With the purchase of a Canon 7D and my wife getting our 600D, I needed to get a tripod for her. She had already decided she would be happy with the 294A3 legs (of my tripod) which would allow me to upgrade to a 055XProB but she wanted a ball head (instead of my 840RC2 three way head). So we went tripod shopping.

Well we ended up with a kit with the legs I wanted (055XProB) and a 498RC2 ball head. Then it was my job to change the heads. Having played with her tripod or rather ball head a bit and having got acclimatized to the way a ball head operates, I am quite impressed. What also impressed my was the load limit of the outfit we bought, 7kg verses the 4kg of my three way head. I think I can see one of these for me in the future, perhaps combined with a set of carbon fiber legs too.

my favorite is the Manfrotto 190probx and a manfrotto 410 junior geared head.
if i need to move the camera then i freehand anyway so the fine control of the geared head is good for night, telephoto and macro shots
