    Something different from me

by Plays with Light » Fri Sep 23, 2016 7:33 pm

Had the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and act as a backup photographer for a small festival recently. The kit had to climb to high ISO's with the low indoor light because someone (no names mentioned, Alex) forgot to bring his flash with him.

I've gotta say it takes a lot of courage to shoot people, so my hat's off to those of you that do this, but I'll go back to shooting landscapes, macro and buildings again now...

Here are a few I can share from the event.

    All good shots.
I like the spontaneity of the last one the most.

We'll have to catch up some time Alex when your up for it. Maybe a run out to Eden's new patch at Yankalilla.

Thanks, Doug! I'd love a catch up at some time, whenever's convenient for you folks is good for me too.

Weather is a bit unpredictable at the moment, will try to catch Edens attention about teaming up to do it soon.

That was something I learnt from this initial foray into event photography. Keep the microphone to the side or well in front of the person! Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

After a quick scour of the old hard-drive, I found these two images, side on and with no microphone in the way of their faces. I'm perplexed as to why I overlooked them in the first instance!

Alex, speaking as one who did shitloads of performance photography back in the day, the other great pitfall to avoid is looking straight up the nostrils.
