One from back in April.
Taking these pictures can sometimes prompt me to look into the back story of the building or the business associated with it.
In this case The SA Farmers co-op union ltd began in 1888, by 1895 it was an established farming merchandise store.
Later it was a producer of butter then wool.
The company was gobbled up by the Adelaide Steam Ship company in its race to buy anything it could get its hands on, commencing in the late 70,s with borrowings from around 200 banks.
When that bubble burst it was subsequently acquired by Lion Nathan in a package with National foods.
Lion Nathan was in turn gobbled up by Kirin of Japan.
The name lives on in the form of Farmers Union Ice Coffee and advertised as the drink of choice for footy loving tradees.
