like it, maybe just a bit of vignetting to stop your eye from going out of the picture

It confuses me (not hard to do though).

Looks a bit like the boy has been placed in the photo & although he is facing away :? , I can't see that he is looking at anything if that makes sense. If he was looking at the ground or even at the wall more then maybe it would work.
That's just my interpretation & maybe I'm wrong it's happenned before

I agree with the "looking down" it looks like he is looking at the wall. Nice post work though, certainly different.

Well done Kenny... Congrats on the COW.

Would love to have a general idea of the photoshop technique that you used.
    Cheers,
    John

    John,

No problems, I can give you a brief run down.

There are 2 main images here:
    1) the walls and alleyway are from dubbo Goal
    2) the boy is my sun, taken many years ago at the war memorial.

The walls are the base image and it has been desaturated. I then overlayed a wood/paint texture on the image (used a soft light blend mode). This layer was erased along the walls and just left in place on the ground and out into the background.

I then mixed in another texture which was essentially a black background with the centre coloured in. This texture was blended with overlay mode. This gives the appearance of breaking away.

Finally boy was pasted in and some selective darkening to give him the shadow etc. Since getting feedback from this forum, I have moved the boy to the end of alleyway instead of the middle.

all of this was done using Photoshop elements.

    Hope that is interesting
