    LR2/Mogrify

    by JazzXP » Fri Oct 22, 2010 10:57 pm

Continuing on from my "Around The Bay 2010" thread. I figured I'd start a LR2/Mogrify thread.

So I've been playing around with this trying to get my border effect out of it (I'm close). It's not very intuitive, but what I'm doing is using 3 outer borders. One white at 20 pixels, one black at 1 pixel, then another white at 20 pixels (60 on the bottom). From there I've got a text annotation set to the title. Finally the resizing part.

My big issue with it at the moment is the text resizing looks extremely bad (using the font TrajanPro Regular). Anyone know how to make it look smooth without having to export at full size, then resize out of lightroom (if I go to that extent, I may as well just do the borders in photoshop).

I just use it to add a simple border I have never tried using text.

It looks like Mogrify renders the text as an image then resizes it to spec, and doesn't do a particularly good job of it either. There's a lot of artifacting present.

I think I would prefer to use a PS script to do borders, it does a much better job.

The scaling of mine is all weird. The text is anti-aliased, but put simply, it looks like arse.

It's a shame except for that, I'd be fine with it (the rest of how I do my borders works).

Looks like I'm still going to be using PS for my borders /sigh

Choice of colours can minimise the problem. If you use a light background with dark text it's hardly noticeable.
