    Finding Models

    by D1cko » Wed Jun 24, 2009 9:21 pm

I'm sure its been asked before but i couldn't find any decent in info.

So, how do you go about finding models for photos. I'm by no means a pro but its something a bit different to landscapes and cars. I was thinking about asking some of the girls I know who want to get into modeling so they have some photos to use.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ben

Thanks for the help. I will have a better look on those sites when my internet speed goes back up.

This is a bit further down the track but if you see someone in town that you think could make a good model, whats the best way to go about talking to them about modeling?

Depends on how you are with the chat. Most girls will do a PFT shoot if you tell them what you want to achieve.

modelmayhem is definitely the best place, but timeforprint.com.au has led to a couple of excellent models for me too...

The most important thing is not to treat it like a dating agency... and have respect for whoever you shoot...
    Cheers,

Can't say I've found that to be the case OnePutt... Personally I'd stick to the ones that have decided they want to be models... less chance of a slap in the face that way... :-)

Nothing wrong with sleeping with models, I do it every night. I must say though we met well before she started modelling for me and I started snapping her :) Leeks comments are very true however, make sure your interests are based on the photography rather than the model.

I can't say that I am familiar with your work Ben, working with a good model makes everything else easy.

    3 options.

1 Try portraits first, family are good for this.

2 Try model Mayhem, TFP, Oz model etc, offer Time For Print, you might have issues with models turning up etc.

3 Post a casting call, offer a cash compensation, get a good experienced model and focus on your end of the image making process instead of the model as well.

Top Secret: Best thing I ever did...

Hire a very experienced, very expensive professional model, pay a few $100 for the shoot
Learn an awful lot... Get some great pics...

thanks for all the help/advice. And don't worry, the interest is in the photograph and not the models.

    Hi there,

Just letting you know that should you still be searching for a model for PFT work in Rockhampton, I am available. I'm a p/t model and have done editorial and runway work for GHD, Wayne Cooper and Redkin.

Should you wish to view some of my images, please visit: www.starnow.com.au/kellieallen1

    Thanks,
