    The Physics of Digital Cameras

    by WazzoTheMartian » Fri Dec 18, 2009 3:52 pm

Think you understand the theoretical basis for Digital Cameras? ...
Unless you are on the R&D staff for some major manufacturer I very much doubt it.

I set about trying to figure it all out late last year and it has certainly been a surprising journey. Check out my journey through photon flux, Poisson aliasing and hardware limitations. I'll bet at least some of it will raise your eyebrows.

I don't think you'll find this stuff anywhere else on the net, no doubt the big companies know it all but they keep their secrets to themselves.

Welcome and thanks for sharing this in you first post.
WOW this is some of the best reading and information I have ever read on digi cameras .
Its interesting to see we both are impressed with the Nikon D40X

Indeed interesting reading I hope every one takes the time to read through you paper

What are you views on the Panasonic LX3 ???as a comparison to the Canon G5 did they head in the right direction with 10MP and exit the MP war ??

    LX4

    by WazzoTheMartian » Mon Dec 21, 2009 1:45 pm

Certainly both Panasonic and Canon have started to move in the right direction although they could go further yet. I wish to see the sensor parameters that I laid down in the Martian Categorisation Scheme.

My wish list for the LX4 is: 6MP, a longer lens and a flat 2:3 aspect ratio.
