    Australia Day Challenge

    by Sir Tristram » Sun Jan 21, 2007 9:38 pm

    Its time the forum got a regular Members Challenge going so here is the January installment.

    The challenge is this;

    Submit a photo taken on Australia Day 2007 that best represents what it means to be Australian too you. This is a subjective topic but the photo has to contain and/or depict something from Australia Day 2007.

    Each image will need to be e-mailed to: administrator@digitalslr.com.au with exif data intact.

    Only one entry per member is eligble.
    All entries must be received by 8pm Monday 29th January 2007
    Due to the short duration of this challenge, the winner will be selected by the forums mods.
    Basic pp only. No pasting a stubby onto a Kookaburra's wing etc...

    So get out on Australia Day and take plenty of shots and enter the Challenge.

    If you're in the Parramatta area on the 26th, it could be the perfect place to capture that winning shot. A few of us will be there cameras in hand. See this link for more information.http://www.digitalslr.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2966&highlight=

    Can u plz tell me what 'with exif data intact' that means?! I'm still new to a lot of the termenology!

    Unfortunatly I won't be entering as I'm coaching all day Australia Day so that's not really what I consider to be 'Australian'! lol. But good luck to all of those who are!

    EXIF data is information embedded with the picture file from you camera. Among many other things you get shutter speed, F-stop, ISO, and many other camera settings.

    If you do basic image processing, a little crop or sharpening you will most likely keep the EXIF data with the file. In this case it can be used to help verify when the photo was taken.

    However, some post processing may strip the EXIF data from the file. As an example, my border making Photoshop Action does this as it creates a new image and does a copy and paste.
