    SEQ Minimeet - Mount Tamborine, 5th & 6th September

    by GeoffM » Tue Jul 28, 2009 2:45 pm

OK, I have not been able to attend a minimeet for such a longtime due to various circumstances and would have loved to have come along to the Rainbow Beach one last weekend. However, the travel costs from the GC is too much for me personally due to the fact that I have recently been made redundant, and have not had any redundancy payout as the company was declared bankrupt. I await payout from our government but dont expect this will be anytime soon...anyway I digress.

To address my dissapointment in not being able to attend a minimeet, I would like to propose we have one on my home turf, Mount Tamborine in the Gold Coast hinterland. Perhaps a bit too soon after the last meet, so perhaps a date towards the end of August or Early September would be better suited?

Mount Tamborine has much to offer photographically with the rainforests and their bird/wildlife, trees, fungi, creeks and waterfalls. There are also the Botanic Gardens, unusual architecture, good views of the Gold Coast and the surrounding valleys. There are also numerous wineries, a brewery and a distillery.

I have at home a modest studio setup with basic lighting and associated equipment for those wishing to try some studio stuff, portraiture, macros etc. etc.

We could even make it a weekend meet if people chose to stay at one of the many B&B's on the mountain so that the best light can be captured at each end of the day.

Hey, my better half even does remedial massage so if any one would like to pamper themselves I am sure we could organise this too.

A couple of links giving some info about the area:

    http://www.lanerealty.com.au/TamborineMt.html

    http://www.tamborinemtncc.org.au/visiti ... t_info.cfm

If there are sufficent numbers, as I am currently time rich, I will try and contact some local companys to see if special access to some of the wineries/brewery/distillery could be arranged for a photographic group and perhaps discount rates for accomodation.

    Any takers?

Sounds like a great location for a mini-meet.
    I'd certainly be interested in
rainforests and their bird/wildlife, trees, fungi, creeks and waterfalls. There are also the Botanic Gardens, unusual architecture, good views of the Gold Coast and the surrounding valleys

so put me on the list, subject to dates.
    Thanks Geoff :)

If it is intended that this should be a two day thing then the travel would be worth it. I am in subject to dates. :D

Hey all, fantastic response so far. I reckon as most are busy at the latter end of August the first weekend in September as suggested by Steve should
    be locked in.

Can a mod please make this post a sticky?

I will commence a plan of action and post here for feedback, I am looking forward to this already :D
