MINI Meet - Leura Cascades - 2 DAYS TO GO!!!

    by VetNurse » Fri Jul 20, 2007 9:58 pm

Okay folks, it's time for a forum pick-me-up photographically and socially speaking.

Saturday 8th September at the Leura Cascades park. 9am with a BBQ/Picnic BYO lunch.

I guarantee a fun time by all, and I will be bringing a super duper large pavlova with all the trimmings.

Post your Yays and Nays below.

p.s. those who wish to do dawn photography are more than welcome to go ahead of those who "don't do early mornings"

    Cheers
    Ruth

I shall be shooting in Brisbane for the week of the 3rd of September but if I get back in time this might just be the tonic I need.

Count me as a definite maybe.

Great idea. Put me down a a definate maybe.
Be aware though that if it's sunny there are going to be many highlights on the waterfall unless we get there real early or wait until late.

Went there last year. Heaps of parking up until about 0930 then it fills up. Although it's a little colder now than when I went. Brrrrr. Foxgloves anyone?

Take Great Western HWY to Leura, turn south and drive through the main street.

After passing through the town, turn right (west) onto Gordon Drive which becomes Cliff Drive. There is a small road (Chelmsford Dr) which passes through the Leura Cascades Picnic Area. There is a small parking area near the bridge and the top of the track leading down to the waterfalls. The larger parking area is at the open picnic area.

Google maps is a little light on in detail in this part of the world. Chelsford Dr is shown but not labled.

    I'm interested but...

Cascades wont occupy the whole day.. ..and its a long drive

Are there any other attractions we could do to make it more worthwhile

I looked at the map up there,

plenty of cliffs and lookouts to keep you amused all day

not to mention the 3 sisters, giant staircase etc etc
probably enough stuff the keep the family amused also

More than enough to keep us busy. The problem will be trying to fit it all in!

I'm still thinking of doing Sublime Point at dawn. I'm sure this won't be for everybody. Early start and more than a chill in the air...

Might take a BBQ up there and have a big breakie after the sun comes up.

OK... I'm a maybe possibly. And if I am going to drive 3 hours to get there I'll do a dawn run!

    Somebody remind me though ;-)
