Stockton Beach - 20th and 21st October **CANCELLED**

by Sir Tristram » Thu Sep 13, 2007 2:35 pm

I want to try and get a weekend organised to visit Stockton Beach and stay overnight at Anna Bay on the Saturday night and then home again on Sunday morning. Just 2 hrs North of Sydney.

    Stockton Beach Info cane be found here;
    http://www.exploroz.com/Places/Show.asp?pwp=23180&p=Stockton%20Beach&poi=

    ***UPDATE 14 OCT 2007***

I have booked Mrs T and I into a new hotel in Nelsons Bay, 15 mins from Stockton Beach. A single room for 2 ppl on Saturday 20th October was $129 with plenty of places to eat out close by.

Here is a link to the property:
    http://www.theoaksgroup.com.au/Property.aspx?sid=24

If we can get a number of 4x4's organised then the more people can come.

There are lots of things to see and photograph along the 40kms of beach at Stockton such as Ship Wrecks, Tank berms, Shanty Town, etc etc. Have a BBQ on the beach then relax overnight.

So please let me know if you have a 4x4 and are interested in doing the trip as well if you have any spare seats.

I love going up there, but that weekend rules me out - I have to entertain the in-laws who are visiting from out 'o town :)

Have fun, whoever ends up going!

A beautiful area that I used to visit a lot in the 70's but WATCH THE TIDES.

I'll be up for that and have been there many times.
Keep in mind the Stockton Beach cleanup is on the Sunday so it will be busy that weekend.

Yes I'm sorry to confuse Des but I did change the weekend because I realised that it was during school holidays. So hence the new date.

Be good to meet you Richard. And I'd hope to be on the beach Saturday and then off home Sunday morning unless there is something close by to see and photograph.

Koala's....there are Koalas around, you just have to llok for them...usually along the road past Anna Bay enroute to Nelson Bay. The Gymea lilies are really on show at the moment too. Plenty of feathered birdlife in dappled forest light.

So do we have any more takers...

Plenty of overnight accomodation available in Nelsons Bay.

This really is a fantasic place to take photo's.

Does anyone else who is intested in going have a 4x4 that has spare seats for members that might want to go but don't have transport along the beach?

As I have just got back from a 3 week trip up to Karumba and back I'll now just make it a day trip on the Saturday.
My cruiser is set with only the two front seats so I have one spare seat if anyone is interested. With prior notice I can reconfigure it for 2 more.
Where and what time are we meeting?

Thats great Richard. I also have 2 spare seats in my 4x4, so people there are 3 more seats for members to go.

Loz, you could jump into Richards 4x4 and that leaves 2 in my car.

Whats say we meet at the Metro Garage near the beach entrance at say 9am on Saturday morning?

Loz, looks like Richard and possibly Steve are coming up just for the one day on Saturday. So if you want to meet us at the Metro garage at the southern end of Stockton beach at 9am Saturday then you can catch a ride.

And anyone else that wants to just come for the day let us know and we can try and get you a spare seat in one of our 4x4's.

Remember Stockton is only 2.5 hrs from Sydney and a great day out.
