    February Challenge Subject Suggestions

by Sir Tristram » Mon Jan 22, 2007 8:10 pm

People, I need to announce the February Challenge in less than 8 days so can I pls have some suggestions?

For what its worth my suggestion is :

WATER - In all its forms

This could be a drop into a still bowl of water, could be a fountain etc etc.

So please put the caps on and throw some suggestions my way.

You may not want to use it now, but self portraits is a good one.

Water in motion or liquid in motion.

Liquid could be anything from milk to oil to water or any other the gurus can come up with.

A drop on a leaf would not constitute motion one would have to show the trail as the drop moved.

Liquid would have to be shown in obvious state of motion.

A dye drop into water would show motion..
A pebble droped into water would show motion.
The flow of a river and so forth.

    Just my pennies worth

I really like the water in motion idea Stephen.

John, I don't know the response we would get with self portraits, but what does everyone else say?

I think the water in motion is a great subject. I could probably come up with a few more, but the water subject gets my vote for Febuary.
Should be a decent challenge. I think I may even be able to incorporate a duck into the theme; something along the lines of "like water off a ducks back'. :overboard:
    Later,

    Bourbon perhaps

    Sounds good

Moving forward maybe some things like "8 second exposures at f8" etc. When you place a limit it forces people to be creative.

    Liquid in motion sounds great.

Some other ideas for the future:

Natural light portrait (can use reflectors but no flash)
Shadows (where the subject of the shot is the shadow of the object instead of the object itself)
Reflections (in anything - water, mirrors, shiny objects)
Freeze frame (stopping rapid movement, especially movement not normally seen with the naked eye)
    Simon

    Sorry....what was the question again?

So can we take it that Liquid in motion will be the subject of the February 2007.

Simon, you have put forward some great ideas and between those that have been so far mentioned (including self portraits )
should keep the ideas bin full for awhile.
