    Making a comeback

    by greyko » Sun Jul 10, 2016 7:12 pm

    G'day all.

It's been a few years, but i'm making a comeback to the forums.

Things got busy with work and study, and quite honestly, I haven't been doing much photography for a couple years now. I still have my old D90!

Looking to get back to it, and am starting to eye off gear for the first time in years.

Looking to do this sort of thing in future... only better with some better gear!

    Good to see you back.
Things are a bit slow here you will notice if you have not been following, so be patient.
What regulars that are left have gone into a winter photographic hibernation I suspect.

Have fun shopping for new gear.
Since the D90 things have changed a lot in terms of resolutions on offer, low light performance and shadow recovery.

A belated welcome on your return. Haven't been able to log on from my phone lately and haven't had time to check in while at home either!

Nice astro shot too btw. :) Plenty of camera options available if astro is your thing - the Sony a7s is an almost made-to-measure proposition in fact. But Nikon's recent releases are very good performers too. So many choices - sometimes almost too many.

    Welcome back!

nice astro shot and cant wait to see what the new kit delivers
I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can't see from the center.

    Thanks guys.

Yes, I noticed how quiet it was after I'd logged back in. Good to see some life still.

Went to a Nikon night at the go karts and tried out the D610 and D500. The 610 was underwhelming (possibly due to the whole shooting go karts in the dark thing), while the 500 blew me away.

Have been considering a 610 to do the astro stuff, but it didn't seem terribly impressive with low light either.

Am actually considering a jump to Fuji.
