    Day at the dog beach

    by Doug » Sun Jul 19, 2015 11:04 pm

The sun was out finally today so time for a long over due trip to the dogs off leads dog beach.

I took photos, Heidi sniffed butts and rolled in sea weed, each to their own.

Tough choice between the first & second.
Think the 2nd is my favourite

I like the first, more uncommon.

    Nice set Doug,

    the 1st 2nd and 4th for me.

as much as I like the patterns in the first two the fourth is my favourite as it tells a nice story for me.
I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can't see from the center.

Love the third, great capture of that doggie "scent hunting" walk. :)

First interests me, but something is not sitting quite right with the balance of the composition and lighting for me. It's very, very close though. Maybe the higher contrast in the curves on the top RHS of the image is drawing my eye away from the overall arc? Still nice though! 8)

    Thanks for the comments.
Something there of everyone it seems.

Maybe the higher contrast in the curves on the top RHS of the image is drawing my eye away from the overall arc?

I see what you are saying the flatter lead ripples better suit the overall slightly high key look of the images.
Taking the shot a bit later when some of the energy has gone out of the rear ripples so they are not as steep and making a shadow would probably have been the best solution.

B+W can capture great subtlety but also add emphasis that would not otherwise be apparent, such are its strengths and challenges.
