    Short Holiday

    by beeb » Thu Jul 23, 2015 8:47 pm

Took a few days off this week and headed down to Apollo Bay, along the Victorian South-West coast. Had hoped to get more waterfall shots, but I was trying hike in to access some of the falls in remote locations. I got very close to a couple, but couldn't find a way in that didn't involve the risk of serious bodily harm! (8 foot drops onto fallen trees) Oh so close, but will try again from different access point another time.

Even still - Had a ball, took lots of pictures (wish I'd taken more already though! ). These were some of the highlights for me:

Time well spent by the looks of it.
    Cracker shots there.

I'm particularly jealous of the lush bush you have in Victoria.

    Wow!

    very nice indeed.
I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can't see from the center.

Ta Doug. I've been trying to get into the Otways more this year, as I've noticed of the last year or two it's been drying quite rapidly. It used to be wet year round, regardless of the weather, but I'm worried that any coming dry summer could now lead to a very large bushfire and a permanent change to the look, feel and obivously the indigenous species of the forest. I'm certainly hoping that doesn't happen, but nevertheless I'm trying to get deeper into it to capture more (for my own memory/archives) and just to enjoy just in case! Massively frustrating not quite getting to the waterfalls I was seeking this time, but I'll definitely try again!

I remember you posted a picture of that waterfall with the dead tree some time back, different light and different treatment this time and is nice.

    Great set.

Thanks Ion. This was very different light, as I lightpainted it on my first night down there. Between it and the anchor shots, I went up over 700 steps that night! Legs were a bit sore the next day...
