    Canon normal zoom

    by Busiboy » Sat Jul 27, 2013 4:24 pm

I'm in a quandry, I think I'm going for the Tamron, all reports say the optics are close enough to the Canon version at twice the price for it to not matter.

Anyone got hands on experience with both?

Assuming we're talking 24-70 f/2.8's, my only concern with the Tamron version would be the onion-ring bokeh. I've never owned or used one, but I have seen some shots from one and the rings were quite pronounced anywhere there was a bokeh circle. It'd annoy me enough to stop me buying the lens, but may be a non-issue or even appealing for you. It's just one of those personal taste things, but better to know in advance.

Naturally now I can't find where I originally read it... I did stumble upon this example though:

I think in some instances it's look pretty cool, but others it may be undesireable. View the photo in fullsize will make the origin of the name most obvious.
