    Never Saw This Happen Before

    by W G » Mon Aug 10, 2015 10:16 pm

Up at 4 am this morning to get to a shoot at Concord and be all set-up by 7. Just like the good old days.

Half way through the shoot the camera refused to fire. I admit I had been working the finger quite hard with an expressive goddess before me as subject. I explained that I must have filled the buffer. But NO! That was not is. The bloody MIRROR fell out of the camera!!

I have been getting rid of bits of the Canon system — my 34mm TS-E has been listed and more could follow. Methinks it might be time for mirrorless. Let's see.

    Cheers,
    Walter Glover

    http://captainkimo.com/canon-eos-5d-mir ... -fell-off/

the 5d mk 1 had adhesive failure and lots of them, I think you can still hit on them to sort it out as it is a known problem and also was an issue on some of the mk 2's

lots have glued it back on themselves as an emergency fix and there should be 4 points where the glue was.

a "small" amount of superglue, too much leaves chemical fogging on the glass sometimes

Canon should fix it though me thinks. (one would hope)

hope they sort it for you Walter!

had a similar issue with 50D.....and made the superglue mistake. a few people advised not to use superglue because of the composite materials used (after i did it of course).

Or over to Nikon Walter

I had heard of it happening to one particular model & canon was fixing them free of charge.
Reckon I'd be pretty devastated if it happened to me though.

The D5100 model suffers from it also :)

and the d7000 series can have a glitch with some of the VR lenses that that leaves the mirror loose and free floating (aiming down and half the frame goes black as it floats around)

all the brands have faults here and there

So have you noticed it overheating after the first 4 minute video file leaving it already warm starting the next video file?
