Sydney - Sunrise Mini Meet 11/6 - North Curl Curl Ocean Pool

    by RayJ » Fri Jun 10, 2011 9:28 pm

Late notice I know but Cows and I are heading down to North Curl Curl Ocean pool tomorrow morning (Saturday 11/06) for the sunrise (we hope).

Surf is forecast to be ruff and cloud is predicted so we might be lucky and jag some dramatic shots
If you are interested, the plan is to meet at Robertson Road North Curl Curl at 6.00am.

Bring wet weather gear and non-slip shoes as it is slippery around the pool deck.... if we are able to get that close :)

rofl, a few of us will be at the southern end of curl curl or at the next pool south.

ya have my number txt me the conditions at the northern end - i reckon that could be pretty hectic, also check the sunrise angle, is it obscured by the cliff this tim eof year?

Gerry, you need the photographer clone out plugin for Photoshop. Or a stick :D

Ran into that photographer on the left again this morning at Turrimetta. Pretty wild and wet this morning (the weather not the photographer). Packed up in time and got to the cafe as the heavens opened and it bucketed down. Must get a smart phone so I can keep an eye on the radar.

lol, i'll take the stick option. yeah the BOM radar is quite handy when your sitting in teh car deciding whether you should hang around.

what side of turimetta did you end up going to? conditions alright?

Not much thinking required. South end in the lee of the headland. Some big waves out there. Even half tide there was a lot of water getting about. Not much sand either - mostly rock.

I keep coming back to this shot to appreciate the sense of scale and depth that is communicated by the placement of the elements.
There is the sandbags in the foreground (pretty much full size), a photographer in the middle ground (pint size) and Dave right out the back who is almost stick size but all these three elements are dwafted by the cloud formation

    I like it.
