Some how who knows why but I have been playing around with video for 26 months? and just not been happy with myself or the equipment
but I think this may be a little more than just interesting Sony a6300.

So far the 4k results I have seen have blown me away LUST has risen :D

Looks like a great fast mirrorless with fantastic video but the lenses are not cheap

    (f/1.4 85mm GM) costs $1,800, while the f/2.8 24-70mm is $2,200

the lenses look huge on the camera

I suspect it's crop frame Eden, I doubt the "full-frame" lenses would be required (especially for video). Some small manual primes would be ideal IMO, but not everyone's cup of tea.

Can it do global shutter or whatever they call it Loz? The rolling shutter "jello" wobble leaves plenty to be desired from most compact video/mirrorless crossover cameras.

It's a totally diffetent form factor - but have you considered the GH4? Not as much dynamic range as the Sonys, but pretty crispy 4K nevertheless...

    Yes it is aps-c

The recomended value lenses on one site were

the $450 35 mm f/1.8 as a main prime lens, the $350 Sony 55-210 mm f/4.5-6.3 for when you need something zoomy, and the Sigma 19 mm f/2.8 for $200 if you need a prime that’s a little bit wider. After that, you may want the $300 50 mm f/1.8 for portrait work, maybe the $350 pancake 20 mm f/2.8 for a small and light option that can take fisheye and wider-angle screw-on adapters, or the $250 30 mm f/3.5 macro lens for getting super close

It still anoys me that the eos m3 doesnt have a built in evf so the hotshoe based one will be needed for me when I get the M3

She sony has superfast focus though!

Impressive features, but reviewers don't hold back on how below average the rolling shutter is.

Something to consider for your video applications.

    You surprise me Loz,

I thought that all glimmer of lust for devices with shiny bright lenses on the front had well and truly dissipated.

Could the Sony a6300 be the kindling to reignite the BBQ?
